Shahabad limestone for Middle East trade buyers

For developers, fit-out contractors and stone traders supplying villas, hotels and commercial interiors who want Indian limestone finished at source and ordered through a clear sample-to-purchase-order path.

Market

Where Shahabad limestone fits regional work

Across the Middle East, natural stone is specified for villa courtyards, shaded walkways, lobby floors, feature walls and landscape edges as often as for simple domestic paving. Buyers care about colour under strong light, how a floor reads when cooled by irrigation mist or cleaned, and whether a finish will stay serviceable in high foot traffic. Shahabad limestone is a fine-grained Indian limestone that takes a natural split face as well as honed and polished faces produced at our own yard — which lets the same geological bed serve both textured external schemes and quieter internal floors when finishes are chosen carefully.

We quarry and finish in Kalaburagi district, Karnataka, and sell direct. That matters if you are used to long supply chains where colour, thickness and crate quality drift between the quarry you thought you bought from and the yard that actually packed the container. Here the people who cut and hone the stone are the same operation that inspects and crates it. Sales contact is available through our UK company for international trade correspondence, with production remaining in India.

Heat, glare and wet–dry cycling outdoors argue for honest finish selection. Textured natural faces generally give more grip underfoot when surfaces are washed down; honed faces suit many interiors and covered circulation routes; polished faces should be reserved for dry internal areas where slip risk and etching from cleaning chemicals are understood. We do not replace your designer’s judgment with marketing claims — we supply the stone and the finishes, and we ask you to approve a sample before the order is cut.

Interior work under strong artificial light needs the same sample discipline. Grey and blue beds stay calm in lobbies and corridors; yellow and reddish beds carry more character and should be viewed as both dry and cleaned samples before a large floor is released.

Specification

Ordering for projects and stock

Project work in the region often arrives as a schedule of sizes rather than a single tile module. Send that schedule early. We cut a wide range at the yard, including large sheets where the bed allows, at 20mm, 30mm, 40mm or 50mm thickness with ±1mm thickness tolerance. If you need mixed thicknesses for flooring versus cladding-adjacent trims, say so on the enquiry so the quotation stays line-clean.

Colour selection should be sample-led under lighting that resembles the installation. Shahabad Yellow deepens when wet — important beside water features or washed courtyards. Grey and blue beds stay cooler visually in bright sun. Reddish beds are distinctive and less abundant; confirm volume before locking a large feature floor. Technical data is available on request; we do not publish fabricated laboratory figures or name third-party labs for effect.

Commercially, state whether the stone is for a named project, for trader stock, or for a mixed container shared across destinations. Quotations are available to your nearest port or delivered to your yard, on request. Packing, fumigated timber crates, marking and shipping documents follow the sequence on our export and shipping pages. Write finish names in English on the purchase order even if site conversations use another language, so the yard and the receiving warehouse share one reference.

For fit-out programmes with repeating villa or lobby typologies, a single approved sample set can cover several sites if beds and finishes stay the same. Say so on the enquiry so we can discuss continuity and how crates should be marked for each destination without changing the underlying specification.

Terminology

Words buyers use in this market

  • Natural face

The split bed face. Often chosen for external pedestrian areas where texture is wanted.

  • Honed / polished

Yard-smoothed faces. Honed is matt; polished is reflective and for dry interiors only in normal practice.

  • Feature floor / lobby

High-visibility internal work where colour continuity and finish evenness matter as much as price.

  • Landscape edge / courtyard

External or semi-external horizontal work; finish and cleaning regime should be agreed before colour is signed off.

  • Schedule of sizes

The cut list. Prefer a written schedule over verbal “standard sizes” when containers are project-specific.

  • Sample reference

The approved piece kept as the colour and finish control for production and site acceptance.
